A call for Clean Energy and Environment Solutions

Local leaders from across different sectors of the South Florida community will hold a rally and press conference in Coconut Grove this Saturday, October 11, to thank Members of Congress for their leadership on environmental issues and call on them to take bold and decisive action on clean energy solutions to the immense challenges that Americans currently face with the economy, energy costs, and global warming.

Look for a 20-foot, inflated model of the earth in Peacock Park, where the audience will hold “Clean Energy Now” signs as part of a photo petition to be sent to Members of Congress.

The program for Saturday looks like this:

11:00-11:15: Check-in and sign-making for photo petition at Peacock Park
11:15-11:30: Photo ops with speakers and audience at Peacock Park
11:30: Program of speakers - Community Conversation at Green Street Café (3468 Main Highway).

Speakers include Congressman Ron Klein, Kendrick Meek, Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, State Representative Oscar Braynon II among others.

RSVP to Courtney Brigham at cbrigham@environmentflorida.org or (408) 505-2764, then come and bring friends on the day of the event, listen to our speakers, and show your support by posing for a picture in front of our giant earth prop!

Perhaps this group can address our rainwater storm drain system that dumps polluted water directly underground and into porous coral rock and French drains and into our aquifer, which then causes breast and other cancers from roadway oil, gasoline, animal fecus, dead leaves, soot and fertilizers.
