Try Basil in the Grove for unusual dishes

basil
There's this great little place called Basil in the Grove at 3301 Grand Avenue. They have Brazilian and International food and everything there is delicious and very fresh.

Here is a salmon salad, the salad is topped with their famous orange salmon.

Here is Ginger Soy Tilapia with broccoli. The tilapia is so tender, it falls apart to the touch.

Also on the menu are dishes like Picanha Steak, curried chicken, portuguese baked chicken and keema (ground lamb with Indian spices) to name a few. They have sandwiches and daily weekend specials.

One major issue I have with them is their delivery policy. They advertise that they deliver but they pick and choose where and when and some days they just don't feel like it. They can be reached at 305-444-4848 or on line here:

My boyfriend and I love this place! They close early at night, like around 9ish, so make sure you call to see if they are open before you go. The Tilapia in a bag is my fav!

Recognition of Basil on the blog is long overdue, but better late than for-never.

They also serve chilled coconuts with a straw, and wine and beer. The recent craze for the Acai berry is taken care of here in their delicious acai smoothie! It's really good and my healthy alternative to coffee as a pick me up in the afternoons.

Their secret salad dressing could turn you in to a vegetarian - it's so artfully complex, and with only 3 simple ingredients. But then again the picanha steak is very special too. Prices are reasonable for hearty, delicious fare.

They used to have open mike nights on Thursdays and Saturdays. I think their time is limited at that location because of the pending loom of condos - so hurry.

My friend Samir owns this restraunt! The atmosphere is very welcoming! As far as delivers go, It depends on the ammount of people working those shifts. Open mike nights used to be a lot of fun and the place would almost always be full! Aside from that The staff is very friendly and the food is amazing. I would recommend this place to anyone.

With so many fancy soul-less dining available, Basil is definitely one of the very best restaurants in the Grove. The picanha is delicious and so is the keema--try it even if you are skeptical--every dish is made simply with attention, but not ostentation. It is the only restaurant I have seen that has customers from both the west grove and the rest of the grove. This is the kind of local business we should be supporting for the future of our village.

I had the tilapia and broccoli today. It was excellent. Not only did it taste great but between all the broccoli, the salad and the tilapia, i felt like a got a great serving of nutrients.

I will definitely be going back

Looks yummy.

Do you know if they are going to be able to stay once the Grove Village on Grand construction starts?

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Miami. Always a great meal and the atmosphere is laid back and casual. Service is good and the owners are friendly, personal. The girlfriend and I are going tonight... gracias a deus.
