My, how the mighty have fallen
Home Depot planted some new trees in their parking lot and some new bushes around the side of the building. Looks nice. And they're a nice big size, too.
It's ironic that not too long ago they wanted to gut the whole lot of trees and a lawsuit was the only way to stop them. Now they are going green? Interesting.
I asked my bud Sue McConnell, who was part of the Home Depot lawsuit about this. I wanted to know if it was part of the settlement. Her response was, "No comment." They are keeping the settlement secret. But I like what I'm seeing.
I was telling Sue that there are so many trees in the lot now that it sort of blocks the whole Home Depot sign. I tried to get a good shot with the sign in the background, but it was not to be. Good.

Looks like another busy day at Home Depot with at least 20 cars in the parking lot. The trees really look good; it is one of the few parking lots around that affords shaded parking. I can only assume it was part of the settlement that the trees are being planted; can't imagine Home Depot would do it on their own. Let's hope Milams fills their parking lot with trees after they expand.
Part of the mysterious "Settlement" or not, it's great to have tall trees there. Should be like a City Ordinance for any concrete parking lot. Anyway, in the end, the better and more Groovy the place looks the better for the management and everyone. It will attract business, look how nasty some Home Depot Parking lots look, down US1..
I am liking the Home Depot at the Grove more and more. Hope Milam's also plants more trees in their parking lot. If they do, I'll switch from Publix in a second.
Of course you like the HD, it is never busy, it doesn't sell contractor's supplies and the residents make sure they receive deliveries when they are supposed to, trucks are kept to a minimum and residents make sure they are no outdoor sales, no loud speakers, no bright lights to bother neighbors on Bridgeport, and their carts don't leave the lot. You can thank The Grove First for keeping a watchful eye.
