AmEx Grassroots Merchant Challenge begins

The Grove Chamber has joined the American Express Grassroots Merchant Challenge, a multi-city promotional campaign benefiting local urban tree planting programs. By enrolling in the challenge, any transactions on eligible American Express Cards processed at the Chamber between September 22 and October 31, 2008 will count toward "votes" for the City of Miami in its competition with the seven other cities for the larger share of $1 million to support local tree-planting efforts.

The city with the most "votes" at the end of the challenge receives $300,000 for their local urban tree planting organization, while the seven other cities will receive $100,000 each toward their own beautification initiatives.

The other cities involved are Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC.
