Those freakin' peacocks almost got me killed
See this garbage truck? Well this garbage man refused to move this morning and tried to actually smash into my car.
I was coming down Micanopy and there were a bunch of peacocks in the road -- surprise! And just as I passed them and tried to go onto 17th Avenue, this garbage man comes zooming around the block on two wheels. He sees me and refuses to move.
I asked him to please back up because I could not because of the peacocks, I didn't want to run them over. He refused and he came closer and closer and dared me to try to get around him.
When I got out and took photos, he said, "Take all the photos you want. I work for the government and I can do what I want." WTF! Isn't this why the world is in the mess it is now? Because those who work for the government think they can do what they want?
This is another good reason we need to Take Back the Grove and remove these rude city workers.
If you see a few dead peacocks on the road today, you'll know who did it. The Terminator here in his garbage truck.
He would not even let me back up into a driveway to get out of the way, he was after me. I think the camera finally scared him off.
The funny thing is that I had the same incident one minute before with a mail carrier, she could not pass because of garbage cans, but I got out of my car, moved the cans and we were both able to pass. In this instance with the garbage trucks, I was unable to move the peacocks fast enough for him.

Def. seems to be the culture in the City of Miami Government, doesn't it?
Way to stand up to them Tom! Now we need everyone to stand with you!
You can sue him for vehicular assault. Sue the city for negligent entrustment, etc. Take them downtown.
this reminds me of the time you made the security guard go crazy at the info booth. why didn't you just back up your car? did you really think they peacocks wouldn't move? my suspicion is you were feeling fisty.
There were about 7 peacocks behind me, I didn't want to hit them otherwise I would have backed up into a driveway or something. It took me a few minutes just to navigate around the peacocks, after being so careful not to hit them, I didn't want to back up into them. They honestly don't move. They just stand there.
That's pretty much the only way some guy that got all D's in high school can feel powerful.
Push people around in his big bad garbage truck. Should have gotten some pic's of his face. Can you take video with that camera? I would have put my car in park and called the Police.
That garbage truck ironically mirrors the City of Miami governance and administration in many aspects. But it is interesting that the City has begun to look very wimpish in face of valid criticism; this I say is due to correct criticism with indisputable proof, the City in the past would act irrationally muddy the water to get its way. The peopl have changed, they do not put up with garbage anymore, not that we should expect them to not to hit back with garbage, unfortunately that is their nature. But we should stay strong and Take Grove Back.
Anonymous at 9:26 is right. I hope you come to the meetings.
Also ... Interesting how Grapevine actually captures the nuances of livin' in the Grove, good and bad.
Starting to get my attention more, lately. I'm sure it's not just me.
One drives these streets daily, year after year and the same sights present themselves to all of the inhabitants, eventually.
Peacocks crossing. Scantily dressed tourists. Mega-landscaper trucks road hogging. Main Highway tree canopy.
Then, further down Main Hwy by Douglas Road, the signage! It's as if the signs have sprouted from the ground after being cross-polinated.
Based on mental recall there are around thirty signs in a 100 foot radius.
Same holds true in the business district. There is a sign installed in the sidewalk every twenty-five feet, or less. Some needed, some not.
I'm done. Thanks for reading and be sure to check out "www.YourGrove.org".
Seems to me its not the peacocks that almost got you killed.
