Euro Sport Café to open soon
Looks like the Euro Sport Café is taking over the spot at Bird and 27th Ave, where Tigertail Realty was in the new building on the corner.
Unfortunately, because of the rough real estate market, Tigertail Realty will be closing after five years in business. Most of the agents will be joining Avatar Realty on S. Bayshore Drive.
The Euro Sport Café is owned by locals Ralph and Andrea Hoffmeier and David Packard. The new place will be a coffee shop with indoor and outdoor seating.
Great location, I'm wondering about parking though. But it's always nice to see a new café or restaurant opening in the Grove.
On the other end of the building will be the new Coconut Grove Pharmacy, which is taking shape, work crews are working there today.

is it something like starbucks or it will be some kind of food joint?
I'm all for additional businesses in the Grove- especially good restaurants, cafes, etc...
but I don't know that this is a great location - it's not exactly within the "Walking Grove"
There will be excellent foot traffic from nearby businesses, apartments, and homes. Not to mention the Metrorail commuters and the new sidewalks that are being installed.
The outdoor seating will give that corner the "Grove" atmosphere that it needs.
it's a great location.
but it will fail...
unless the people are genuine and real and truely want to create an exceptional experience unlike anything else going. then it will win...
the excitement about the crazy pianos coming to ccw is greatly in part not only because its new (its not even a new concept) but because the company is from the Netherlands. I wish every political seat in this town was taken by someone from other countires (:cuba excluded:)
Is that the 27 Lofts (not sure on the correct name) condo building?
Decent spot. Bad idea for a cafe. Stop while your ahead.
Zero parking, traffic flys by, and I rather get a slice across the street.
I would be very upset if I had an apt upstairs.
Speaking of slice across the street... maybe the Slice & Ice could relocate to there? Weren't they having some sort of easement or right of way issues? They have great food for great prices, might actually get an extra parking space or two, and they'd finally have seating.
so is it like coffee and soccer? croissants and rugby?
Uh-Oh, "outdoor seating",
unfortunately that may mean outdoor speakers (not code , but not enforced) all day and night,
and very late if the employees forget to turn them off,
and at any volume the employees care to be listening to.
Imagine trying to sit on your balcony and not knowing when, what or how loud the music will be.
What does this do to the the value of the condos above ?
If you ask the 'employees', they will say that "our customers like it and want it",
translation "it makes the day go by faster for ME the 'employee'", go into any big box book store.
The new owners are really nice people. The best people that you could ever meet. That corner will be a neighborhood favorite. Guaranteed.
Tony! where are people supose to park ? at Milams? What do you mean it will be neighborhood favorite? that place will last 4 months the most.
Does anyone know if they will show soccer or "football" will be shown? Considering we are 6 hours behind I would love to have a coffee as I watch English matches.
We should be thanking that somebody is taking their
energy and money to create Business and generate employment specially in this economic situation. It is
in the neighbors best interest that is a success!! An empty property for sure is not going to help with the value of those condos.
