At least they appreciate the waterfront

Someone sent me this letter (in blue), I took the picture:

"Today I drove down S. Bayshore twice and the only people I saw enjoying our green space at Kenny Myers Park were 3 homeless guys sleeping on the "green" and one sitting on our beautiful metal sculptured bench with his garbage bag full of everything he probably picked up curbside.

Is this what we can expect when the Expo Center goes down and we get a lot more green space? Yeah like I am going to get my family out there and have a picnic in that park!"

Well, they could be bothering people at the Kwik Stop, asking people for 80 cents for the bus. But to be honest, do you think these people want to be poor and homeless? Let's cut them some slack, they add flavor and atmosphere to the Grove and they are not really as annoying as homeless people you see in other cities who are constantly bothering people. These are Grove characters, some are the link to the Grove's past.

As for green space, nothing wrong with that, just let "Burn Notice" finish at the Expo Center before anything is torn down.

These are the same people who sit on the wall by Sonesta, drink beer, and panhandle. They hang out at Foodspot and drink beer and litter. They walk the streets and scope out your property, live in abandoned houses, break in cars, urinate in the streets, approach people sitting in outdoor cafes.....oh and do you think they sell drugs?

People are not ornaments. Homeless or not. They are people. What a brutally elitist and arrogant thing to say.

Am I a bad person for laughing at the 1st anon. comment and then nodding my head in agreement with the third?

Back to the point of the post, I find the attendance at parks and green space impossible to predict, and I would never single out a moment as a reason to form some sort of judgment.
