Lots of Grovites going to protest today
Norman Braman, County Commission (district 3) candidate Val Screen, Miami Commissioner Tomas Regalado, Miami Neighborhoods United and concerned citizens all across the county oppose the so-called “Miami Mega-Plan” or “Global Agreement”, a $3 billion dollar boondoggle, from happening without a vote of the people.
Norman Braman is fighting the battle in court, and we, the public who will end up paying for this, need to make our voices heard as well. Since we in Disctrict 2 pay a big share of the bills, this is important to the Grove.
The demonstration will take place at 11:00 am at Watson Island, on the West Side, just North of the Children’s Museum.
A big turnout is needed so the media sees there is much public opposition to this back-room deal that will cost at minimum, 3 billion dollars, without a public vote!
Why is the demonstration at Watson Island? Because the city and county are trying to declare Watson Island as “slum and blight”, so they can expand the boundaries of the Omni CRA, which would allow them to divert community redevelopment money to their pet projects, without a vote of the people.
So today is the day to be on Watson Island -- 11 am.
