Cefalo's is now history
From my viewpoint Cefalo's never catered to anyone. Each time I was there they were confused and rude and whenever I would email or call them to help try to promote them, they would not respond. Guess they figured they didn't need anyone. Yet I am still here and they are gone.
Also, I ate there about four times and never liked the food, but I kept going back with different people who wanted to try it. I know many of you complained about the wine servings, but the way they served wine (half or 1/3 of a glass) was the proper way. They weren't jipping you, that is the correct way to allow the wine to breathe.
I hate to see any business fail, but they had this written on the wall for a long time and now Sammy C's is written all over their soaped up windows, announcing their fall opening.

Any indication if Sammy C's is an Italian restaurant also? I hope they are friendlier than Cefalo's was.
I hope the C doesn't stand for Cefalo! Same owner with a new name?
Is Qdoba also closed for good? I was just by there a couple hours ago and it's all shuttered up. Maybe instead of just the weekends, now they're closed... forever.
Sammy C's, is basically the same owners of Cefalo's, Sal and Sam. They also own "Fratelli" in The Grand on N. Bayshore. It is unknown if Cefalo is going to be involved with this "new" venture. Supposedly, the wine shop is still selling and the Taurus bar maybe, but I drove by around 9 last night and it was closed. Cefalo's was basically poorly managed, at times with no management. My advice is when you have no experience in the business is hire someone who knows their stuff and just count the money, which Cefalo etc. should have done. He has no industry experience, only extensive wine knowledge and the ability to drink a good deal of it.
Maybe it is Sammy Cacciatore?
So, Q'Doba is down and so's Cefalo.
Perhaps the next couple of restaurants will do some serious research with real consumers to find out what we want.
I was surprised to find out this place had closed. Also heard that Cielo and Oxygen have closed as well.
When Cefalo's first opened, they had better food and the Valet was free. The last time I went (late last summer), food was not so good, valet was $8 and on a Wednesday night we were the only people there at 8pm. I haven't recommended it or been back, as there are other places to get good wine with much better food options and overall better environment. When it first opened the place was a blast. I'm sorry to see it go, but not very surprised.
I was also astounded at the monthly prices of their "wine club" and tried to recommend that they take another route on it, but they were determined. So the earlier comments here about feeling a bit nickled and dimed aren't that far off base. Agree that they were correctly charging for the wine tastings and found them pleasant, but there wasn't a good feeling there for regulars, frequent spenders, or locals. At least not for this local. I will miss the version I saw in it's first few months. But not it's last version.
Onward to Sammy C's. Fingers crossed.
