Lots of flavor

Try the chicken soup at Focaccia (3411 Grand Avenue) today. Delicious on a hot summer's day with the hard bread sticks. It's got an onion soup type taste. Really good.

Hot soup on a hot day? Not a good mix for me... The empanadas and prosciutto sandwich sound good though!

Blind man- there is a reason for hot soup on a hot day-- According to my mother, in Cuba, which was always hot, the main meal of the day which, was mostly lunch, always started with a soup course. While living in Mexico, another hot country, the main meal of the day also started with hot soup-- made even hotter by the myriad spices. The hot liquid actually serves to cool you down-- not unlike stepping off a hot shower into a breeze.

Im from the Boston area, a mutt of mostly eastern European and French Canadian decent. We eat soup in the winter. Soup on a hot day is not appetizing to me. Different strokes, different folks.

Of course not Blind Mind. If we said we hated soup you would love it. Typical.

It's curried chicken vegetable soup with crostini and Lili Dones is exactly right - hot soup does cool you down!!!

Hey! Give Blind Mind a break. I am also from the Northeast and my lineage is Italian, French & English. Soups and stews are generally saved for the blustery Fall & Winter months. Maybe we need some time to adjust to your Southern menus - but we can have our opinions, too! How many of you would feel comfortable serving a delicious & hearty beef stew in the middle of summer??

Don't get me wrong, I would eat it, but it might not sound too appetizing...

Aw, get some Kleenex and dry your eyes already. Ive had soup at Foccacia before. I do like it. Just not on a hot day. Appreciate you sharing your theory that hot soup cools you down. Please take me down from the cross youve nailed me to for having a differing opinion. Sandwich still sounds good.

Anon - thanks for the support bud

If you were a chef and cookbook author you would sign your name, post a link to your book and be proud. You are probably a jealous restaurant owner in the area whose restaurant is failing and wish you had the clientele that Focaccia has which is all the movers and shakers in the Grove (and Miami).
