Fun-filled old fashioned 4th of July is planned

The Grove is the place to be this Fourth of July. There will be an old town feel the whole day throughout the village.

Fireworks will end the fun-filled day at Peacock Park. Festivities are free and start at 4 pm, with a children's activities and play area, and a musical lineup starting with DJ David G at 4 pm, followed at 6 pm with Blue Man Grove . At 7 pm, First October, which includes our regular Grove beat officers Braga and Carpenter, will headline up until the fireworks spectacle begins at approximately 9 pm with DJ David G and a surprise guest.

Celebrations in the Grove begin in the morning, as the Barnacle will once again hold an "Old Fashioned Fourth of July Picnic," from 11 am to 3:30 pm, hosted by The Barnacle Society, featuring lawn games, kite-making, knot-tying demonstrations, and more. The public is invited to join the staff and volunteers by wearing a period costume. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch and enjoy the day's celebration. The park opens at 9 am. (Please note: Barnacle entrance fees: $5.00 – 12 years and older; $2.00 - ages 6-12; under 6 are free).

The BIC (Business Improvement Committee) will be dressing up downtown Grove in bunting, and musicians will stroll the streets before and after the Peacock Park events, providing music and entertainment and the perfect reason to make this full day in the Grove, as many restaurants will feature special Fireworks dinner menus. In fact, the festivities lend themselves to a perfect 3-day weekend getaway while avoiding gas prices, as hotels such as the Ritz Carlton, Sonesta and Doubletree are offering special rates.
