Best buds

So I met with Mia Stierheim, retail specialist at CocoWalk, and we really hit it off. We had a great time going around the Grove.

We walked around and talked and really enjoyed the afternoon. We both learned that there are two sides to every story. She knows where I was coming from (I kept being fed different information from her own organization -- that's where the confusion started).

I told her that I really do like CocoWalk, and I am just blogging the sentiments of many people who email me or speak to me directly. But I am always promoting their events. CocoWalk's photo is the image printed on the front of the Grapevine's business cards.

There are lots of cool plans for CocoWalk, I'll talk about them soon. I think it is going to turn around for the better. Mia actually asked me my opinion on certain things and was honestly concerned about what people think and she wanted to know what direction CocoWalk should go. This was really nice to see.

Mia was born at Mercy Hospital -- she is a true Grove native and she does care about the Grove and its residents and visitors. I really was getting the other impression. I was wrong.

She did say that Emile Mourad, owner of Full Bodied Wine and Spa, now under construction at CocoWalk, feels bad about his comments (
imported drunken crowd) and wished to apologize. She says that when they first opened his storefront to show him the space, there was a squatter living there. He had his own little bathroom area and food area and sleeping area. Of course, they had to send him away, but that's what Emile had to deal with and in spite of it, he signed a lease, so maybe he's not such a bad guy after all.

The wine and spa combination is some sort of new thing out of California. I am not familiar with it.

So I'm glad Mia and I had the chance to meet and talk. We plan on doing lunch soon. We'll take you along -- through the blog, of course.

I've dealt with Mia on a few issues and always found her to be most pleasant and helpful.

Glad the Grape realizes there are two sides to the story - sometimes 3 sides; it shouldn't be so quick to put down people who are really trying. Business people need to make money but they also know they have to make their guests happy; let's just keep an open mind and if you have a problem, you should consider meeting with more business owners BEFORE you stir the pot.

I knew this would end this way. Glad to see the other side of the coin. Looking forward to growth at Cocowalk and in the Grove. Hey Grape, dont you know you should always shave before meeting with a woman?

May we remind you... I don't think CocoWalk fits into the Grove anymore. Has it ever? Management doesn't understand that they are not the Bal Harbour Shops or Merrick Park.

So now that you've got your ego stroked a bit... you change 180 degrees.

You are so predictable!

You throw the stone... then the owners or whomever stroke your little ego... then you become their best buddies.

Like a soap opera. A bad one.

First Grape is accused of being too rigid and closed minded, then he opens up his mind and sees another point of view and he is accused of changing his mind.

Some of you are mental cases. I swear. I never met such a bunch of haters in my life. Is this what the Grove has become? Haters?

You may have thought that calling out your "change of heart" for Cocowalk was rude but your response insinuating that the type of people who enjoy bowling are "white trash" is 10x worse. Plus, you obviously have never been to a Lucky Strike lanes. It costs a fortune to bowl 1 game there, thus weeding out what you call "white trash".

You're right. I apologize, I was just trying to be funny. But I did change my mind about CocoWalk because of the bowling alley. I think it will be a great thing and that's a good direction for CocoWalk to be going in along with the movie theater.
