Artist at work

AnnaMaria Windisch-Hunt with Kevin Kirkwood, art and architecture student from UM, who spent the day creating a mixed media image right on the street outside the gallery. He started early and ended late.

The photo above was taken by Visual Journalism student Michelle Wallace whose project is to produce a multiple picture package for a final portfolio also at UM. She spent the day shooing photos of Kevin as passersby watched him work.

Kevin enjoyed the interaction with tourists and locals. Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones actually walked by, too. Everyone was so into Kevin's work that we missed the photo opportunity. When he passed by later on the other side of the street, Michelle got a photo, but it didn't come out well.

Melissa Mastroeini, student at New World School of the arts, felt comfortable enough to be part of the scene. She was a help to Kevin. She ran to get him supplies when needed and she helped AnnaMaria with the computer.

Michelle, Kevin and Melissa spent a long time in the Grove. They all kept an eye on the Gallery when AnnaMaria and I went for a walk around the village to take other pictures.

You can see the image taking shape above.

And after many hours of work, here is the finished product.
