George's in the Grove coming soon
You may remember George from Le Bouchon du Grove, he's the loud one. He always made Le Bouchon a wild party.
We'll he's opening a new place at the beginning of May on Commodore Plaza. I think he said the name is George's in the Grove. It will be at 3145 Commodore Plaza, the old Da I' Frasca location.
George's place will have French, Italian and North African food -- fresh and organic. The seafood will be wild, the meat will have no hormones or additives. I met Bruno, his new chef yesterday. He is very excited at the new venture, too.
I'll get George to accept the Code 33 card and maybe offer specials to Grapevine readers.
Stay tuned . . .

Dieu Merci! I love bouchon and though I don't know George personally, I always felt like he at least recognized me... and part of the fun of bouchon was watching him interact with his staff and guests - I can't wait to see/taste his new venture - hooray!
Whoa! Da I' Frasca is gonzo? That was short-lived! Well, I can kinda understand I guess. The first 2 times I went there the food was incredibly good. The last time I went, I brought my mother who was visiting from out of town and the food and service were god awful, especially the service.
You should start a "restaurant graveyard" link on this page where we can list all of the places that are laid to rest in the Grove.
The same happened to me at Da I'Frasca. It's a shame that it didn't click.
Regarding George,I was hisfirst customer at Le Bouchon and I'll try to be the first at George's. He is a class act and knows the biz!
Mons. "Cousteau"
Marco the manager, chief, waiter, bottle washer was his own enemy. His staff would walk out on him while we were seated having dinner. We knew he would burn out fast. To bad. Also the name change was a problem, more confusion.
can't wait for George to be back in business!! He always makes you feel special and food has always been great. I will continue to be a loyal Le Bouchon patron as well. They have never missed a beat after his departure.
