Weekend Charrette set for Playhouse
Three days of workshops are designed to come up with a solution for the failing institution. I say first step is to remove the board and not even let them participate. They are the ones that caused this failure in the first place, aren't they?
The workshops will be Friday, March 28 through Sunday, March 30 at Ransom Everglades (3575 Main Highway) just down the block.
The schedule looks like this:
Friday
9: 30 am - Welcome and introduction
10:00 am - Presentation
11:00 am - Open Forum (Q&A)
1:00 pm - Design Team Work Session
10:00 pm - End of Day
Saturday
8:30 am - Design Team Work Session
12:30 - Public Meeting Pin Up
3:00 pm - Design Team Work Session
10:00 pm - End of Day
Sunday
8:30 am - Design Team Work Session
5:00 pm - Final Presentation
The general public is invited to visit the Design Team Work Sessions.

Well, it appears that there is no interest by your readers in the Playhouse.
I agree totally with your view on the need for the Board to resign. However, why is there no blame being laid on Mr. Mittelman, whose job it was to run a fiscally sound Playhouse honestly?
I know. The readers get more worked up when I post about the Black Info Booths.
Mittelman is out of the picture, now the board needs to go.
I came back to the Grove (lived here before in 85 and have visited before and in between) and I was very distresed to find the Playhouse closed. If its survival depends on the board resigning...you've got my vote.
I have a great interest in the Playhouse. Its just that I don't know what to say.
I know developers covet the property and I know that the Board has serious problems.
That I pass it every day knowing it is dark and likely to stay that way, I get very sad. Certainly our community could support the Playhouse.
I personally think it is a treasure we all should save.

I certainly hope that all those who feel strongly about the Playhouse come to the Charrette
Is the current Playhouse Board the same as the prior group or has there been significant turnover since the debacle first surfaced?
Amazing how the board has taken so long. When the Playhouse went bankrupt - the group below started up and since then has taken full advantage of the vacuum left by the closure.
