"Earth Hour" is tonight
AnnaMaria, had a little dress rehearsal today at the Windisch-Hunt Gallery (2911 Grand Avenue). Above, Community College art students, Samantha McNabb and Sofia Moreno view a Freda Tschumy bronze.
A few visitors thought it was part of the art. She also dimmed lights in the gallery so they reflected how the paintings would look at home. It came off well. Some people expressed that the dimmer lights drew them in closer to the art work for better viewing. So tonight again the lights will be out in the same places for "Earth Hour" and maybe now on a continuing basis since people like the atmosphere so much.
This is one way in which "Earth Hour" made a lasting difference -- AnnaMaria is using less electricity now. Maybe the trend will continue -- more restaurants might use more candlelight in the future rather than burn every light in the place.
Oscar and Ashley Thompson came prepared with flashlights for Earth Hour later at night.
