We need a "run in, run out" breakfast place

It seems that every morning, Starbucks and The Bookstore are packed with people looking for breakfast. I would say from maybe 9 am to 11 am is the busiest, I guess it's all Grove workers, people who run stores and businesses, making a last dash before they open up. Today there were about 40 people waiting in Starbucks to get something for breakfast, and it honestly isn't even a breakfast that they offer.

It seems what we need in the Grove is a breakfast place, a fast food sort of place, but good food. I ended up at Gardner's Market, which is not in Center Grove and which offers stale pastries and over-priced slow service. Don't even get me started on Coral Bagels, I don't know how that filthy dump stays in business.

If Johnny Rockets could be retrofitted to serve breakfast from say 6 am to 10 am or 11 am, that would fill the need -- a fast order cook could make eggs, bacon and so on. People can dash in and dash out and get a decent breakfast.

Maybe even one of those push carts you see in New York would work. They usually have pastries, bagels and coffee, but maybe some other things could be added, too. This could be set up in a central area near Grand Avenue, McFarlane Road and Main Highway and could run for three to four hours in the morning.

There's a captive audience there. It would be perfect for the right minded entrepreneur.

Years ago Lum's fit the bill, remember them on McFarlane, up on the hill, where Oasis Internet Cafe is now? Maybe a smaller breakfast version of Lum's is what is needed. Maybe Oasis can fit the bill.

Le Petit Paris is going in where Mambo's used be across from Greenstreet - I assume that will be coffee and pastries.
There is always Dunkin Donuts.

What's wrong with Coral Bagels? We eat there every Sunday morning, it is always packed and I think the food is good...

I don't know, but every time I go, which is like once a year, I regret it. It looks so filthy, maybe they need to changed the chipped glasses and plates for a start and sweep the floors.

Maybe it's just me, my neighbors swear by it.

Have you tried Cafe Nikki, the street level European-style deli café next to the Sonesta Hotel? it is part of Nikki Coconut Grove, serving breakfast, lunch and specialty coffee.
Amazing Turkey Sandwich and good coffee, fresh salads, etc.

No, but Nikki sounds just what I am looking for for take-out breakfast. Easy parking in that area, too in the mornings.

i was in coral Gables 3 times, on the third time I called Health Department, have you ever seen dirtier place in life, I mean it looks like it could be in dusty roads of Zimbabwe,
Check those AC openings, mean there is a spider web hanging, I am grossed up every time I think of it

Nikki Beach is a little pricey; hope they realize we are not South Beach. Make it good and make it reasonable and they will come if you don't mind the fumes from the parking garage. That's got to be the grungiest parking garage in town.

Pomme y Pane, on Virginia Street. Olav cooks a great breakfast, it's reasonable, and if there's something special you want he will make it for you.

Since when is Gardner's Market NOT in the center Grove, Grapevine, you might need a to take another geography course... Also, Gardner's is fine, people are polite and the morning crew has been cool to me. We never had an experience like you had at Fresh Market. And, the only thing bad about Coral Bagels are the potato's - they are bad, but it's fine. We are not talk'n five star dining...

Why all the hate Grapevine - and why do not you open a morning place and do the breakfast thing - your way.

See Grapevine, I am not the only one who decisively thinks that you seemingly have the predisposition to view things in a hateful and very, very negative way! (In fact, more oft than not, please - take a look at your headlines throughout the months in your very own archives.)

Don't view this criticism as a personal assault, rather take it as an awakening to a kinder, gentler, more positive spin on the beautiful Coconut Grove bubble we all arrogantly and selfishly thrive and exist within!

Coral Bagels is a dive. Grapevine see, we do have some views in common. A rarity, true dat.

Coral Bagels is great. Call it what you want but they make good food at a very reasonable price and at least their bagels are fresh. I picked up a dozen on my way to work today and everyone loved them. Starbucks isnt breakfast and the bookstore is a ripoff. Olav's is great breakfast at reasonable prices too.

You know, ... Fran at the Subway on US 1 is making breakfast, now. That's the only Subway that I've ever seen with a real dining room and free newspaper.

Coral Bagels was shut down by the health department for several days by the health department due to some "less than appetizing" creatures roaming about. As it is public record, all you need to do is check it out on the website of the Department of Professional Business Regulation.

I never went in there again after that.

It seems like lots of restaurants are being shut down at some point. I think some of the 'activity' is a part of living in south florida.
I have trouble with the palmetto bugs in my own kitchen. They gross me out.

Try Foccacia Rustica, they have great breakfast, and service with a smile.

Yes, we have very few options for the drop the kids and pick up your coffee/sandwich on the way to work establishments. I have been to them all, and I choose Pommes and Pane. I was running late one day, called in my order, and it was ready when I walked in.

Now try that at Green Street. NOT.... And very true about Starbucks and Book Store, that is not breakfast. Might recommend it if you are about to jump on a plane. More to the comparison of airport food.
