What's up with CocoWalk?
"Went to the movies at CocoWalk last Sunday. None of the elevators and escalators (going up) were working and the ladies' room was closed. What is going on? On a Sunday night after the events of the day, the place was quite crowded. Are we trying to push people away? First they can't park and when they do, they can't ride the elevators, escalators nor go to the bathroom. I saw someone turned away from the theater who needed to use the loo. Its pretty awful."

I heard they're renovating the theater and are going ot put in a full bar and serve food. Don't know if it's true though..
The theater is a dump and if they did a MAJOR renovation they could draw alot of the people that go to sunset place. I live a block from the cocowalk theater, but often drive to Sunset and pay to park because of the considerable difference in quality.
As far as someone being turned away from using the bathroom, I am sure they were simply redirected to the public restroom on the ground floor. The ticket taker has one responsibility: dont let anyone in without a ticket. You cant expect the ticket taker to allow someone in to potentially scam a movie, and risk their job, when there is obviously a public facility available just steps away. I mean honestly, if you had to use the bathroom at cocowalk, why on earth would you choose to try to use the one in the one place that restricts access? There is a public bathroom on the ground floor, or you could walk right into Cheesecake Factory, Tu Tu Tango, los Ranchos, Hooters, etc without even being stopped.
Unfortunately the escaltors and elevators at CocoWalk are very old and the new owners do not have the cash to fix or replace them. They are a safety hazard. Until the empty spaces are rented there is no revenue and that means no money for improvements.
Sh-t happens. The escalator was broken at the gym today. Big deal. Suck it in and walk the stairs.
None of the public bathrooms were available. There were employees stationed infront of them and DID NOT redirect anyone anywhere. They obviously have a problem with their plumbing. As far as "suck it up and walk up or down the stairs"...I suppose you probably have an answer for handicapped or people who are unable to climb stairs? Let's not be silly ok? we have a captive audience after the "Taste of the Grove" event and CocoWalk finally has some people walking around but sorry.... they can't go to the bathroom nor use any facility? Ok, I guess our standards have to lower or just go to places where they are happy to accomodate people who need escalators and elevators and last but certainly not least a public bathroom in a public facility!
That's why people don't enjoy coming to the Grove, empty storefronts, papered windows, no one takes pride in their property, escalators broken, trash and handbills all over the street, public restrooms are a problem, let'snot even get into parking ....
We really must support our AMC theatre going to Sunset is wrong. We need the $$$$ here in the Grove. True the AMC is just Ok. But should they pack up their bags and say Bye we all will suffer.
CocoWalk is dying out because of the idea of cleaning up the streets by taking out night clubs. The night clubs gave the grove life and without them CocoWalk and Mayfair will soon fail. Without support from the community business is leaving. Hopefully in the fall Cocowalk will be renovated and the community will come back, but until the renovations are completed try seeing what Cocowalk is offering til then.
