Noise on the horizon

It appears that the crane last week at CocoWalk was putting up some sort of roofing structure at Chili's for some sort of outdoor patio. See it in the photo here -- those gray beams?

I can just hear the late night noise now wafting through the neighborhoods. Do they have a 5 am liquor license or not?

I know, I'm such a trouble maker. :)

Tere recently brought this up in the Coral Gables blog. Apparently they are having noise concerns in their entertainment district, too. Some City Commissioners in the Gables feel as I do -- don't move near the entertainment district (in any town) if you don't want to hear noise.

who cares about roofing structure of the Chili's, who eats there anyways. The whole Coco Walk is one ubber ugly construction. What I am concern is the noise motorcycles are producing on the nightly basis around 2-3 am wakes me up most of the times. Is there noise ordinance in place at least in the residential area of Bayshore drive.

You cant have it both ways. The Grove needs the business. I think we can deal with a little noise if it will bring $$ to CocoWalk and Mayfair. We can't be complaining about the empty stores and also complaining about the customers that new businesses attract.

no i understand about mayfair and coco walk, drunks walking at 3 am dont concern me I just think we should limit motorcycles after certain time of the day.
I am on 22 floor and it is interesting how well one can hear up high, i actually decided doing high impact windows next month in entire apartment just because of the noise, nice soundproof that would cost me
($142.000) for 48 panels, I do have the shutters already, so it will be only as noise reduction measure.

Limit motorcycles to a certain time of day? Really? What's next? Limit yellow cars? Red trucks? Jews? Blacks?

Do some people even bother reading what they write?

There are noise ordinances in each city, especially for traffic. You can get ticketed for having loud radios in Miami Beach and in the Grove.

Motorcycles all meet or are below noise limits established in each city.

If you choose to live in a city, especially a grown up, bustling city, you have to lose that hair-trigger sensitivy and get used to the fact that other people have other standards for everything (including noise).

Or... move to a nunnery in the middle of the Everglades.

Several times yesterday while lunching at Greenstreets, motorcycles stopped to make a turn really enjoy revving their engines and making as much noise as they can while you can't even hear the person next to you speak. They are their own worst enemy. Then you are the bad guy when you complain.

I ate at green street yesterday as well and there were the usual bikes and their loud-ass exhausts driving by. Yes, its extremely annoying and I just dont understand why anyone would want to ride on something that loud to begin with, but if there are no rules against it then I guess we all have to deal. Like m-adman said, you cant segregate the types of vehicles people are allowed to use in the Grove.

so if we are tax paying citizens how come our corrupt police is not giving tickets, I am sitting right here right now and I can hear such a loud bikes going around, it is not even visually pleasing, by the way. You cant have the dinner sitting anywhere outside in coconut grove, you cant talk or enjoy your meal.

There's no nunnery in the middle of the Everglades! At least not when I live there. It is quite though.

I hate the Thursdays because of bikers zooming all around Miami. I agree those monstrous bikes in the Grove are just dangerously loud, and awful nuisance, there has to be some sort of noise ordinance, the bikers are an earshot from families with small children at 10000000 decibels and all while the Yuppie turned biker adjusts his head scarf. There is a noise ordinance for car speakers and music all around why not for the macho mucho no muffler bike.

Personally, I despise Harley's. Too nosiy for my taste. And, personally, I really can't stand the noise. I find their exhaust noise to be for retards. However... it is my opinion and, just that, my opinion.

From there to trying to legislate a solution is a long long long shot that I oppose even more than the stupid noise.

Such is life. Deal with it.

And, if there is no nunnery in the middle of the everglades, maybe there ought to be one?

The Grove has needed a Chili's type restaurant for a while now. Sweet.

I just moved into the neighborhood and the noise and while its expected, it truly sucks. I am considering buying a high powered bb gun to perhaps blind the drunks singing outside my window. Is this illegal? What are my alternatives? Do the police even respond to noise complaints.
