King Mango Strut was one of the best!
Grand Marshals, Mimi Davila and Laura Di Lorenzo, the Chongalicious Girls (shown above), sang their way through the parade and then did a little concert at the end.
My actual parade photos are here.

The 07 edition was definitely the best in years. I almost didn't go based on last year's parade. But, wow, this year got King Mango into his groove again. Lots of fun and much much lighter. The chonga-licious girls were a hit. Much better than deFede and the guy who bought the parade seat last year.
sounds like you need to become a mangohead and come to the meetings and help us make decisions on groups and the grand marshal.
Can't wait to see the video....when will that be?
Great Parade! Evel Knievel was my favorite! And Sepy Dubronyi as the favorite son of the Grove was great to see!
As much as I love the parade and enjoyed it on Sunday, the pace of the parade is TOO SLOW. Several other people mentioned this to me. Funny, outrageous, but too slow. I'd say speed it up by 20%. Nothing would be lost and there would be more enjoyment.
My two cents...Sotto
Sotovoce - By the time the parade reaches Grand, the parade is totally different than it was on Main. It's the home stretch, marchers are drunk and hot and the pace turns sporadic. The momentum is different than on the other side. However, if you know that going into it, you can just get sloppy yourself and enjoy it just the same.
Wouldn't change a thing!
What is this Mango Strut? A rowdy event that basically looks like a march of Satan's angels in hellish looking costumes such as the OJ Simpson murder paraphenalia. Not an activity that I would have ever wanted to see in the beautiful, peaceful grove that I once knew.
Get back in your rocking chair old girl Raleighite.
Yes,thank God for a still beautiful view of the bay, a rocker, and a mint julep.
