Another shaq attack

My membership at my current gym is up at the end of the month, so I tried again to join Shaq 24 Hour Fitness in the Grove and again I was turned away.

They refused to give me their rates without me first giving them my name, address and phone number and then taking a tour of the place. So again, I walked out. Three years in a row.

I wish the BIC would speak with them. Do they want members or is this a front for something?

One of my neighbors gave me a free pass to Equinox at The Village of Merrick Park, I may try that out this week and if I like it, I may join there.

I'll tell you ahead of time, Equinox does the same thing. Their rates are approx $130 a month.
Just to compare: LA Fitness in S. Miami is $35.

can't speak for 24 Hour fitness, but when Grove Fitness shut down I wound up at Equinox and it's an amazing place. It's not inexpensive, so don't equate it with the mall a minute chains that don't charge a lot. But if you can afford it, and if the schedule fits your life, then it's one great place. (and no, I don't work for Equinox!)

You can join online and not have to talk to anyone. They mail you a pass and you're in. Very simple.

The managers and staff are awful, but you can't beat $25/month no fees.

The equinox is way overpriced. When my subscription contract runs out, I am not rejoining.

I had the same "hard sell" from Shaq's. And one time, they had their aggressive marketing people out front, and one of them blocked my path unless I took his stupid flyer!

Who does their customer relationship management? The "fresh bitch" from the Fresh Market??

Equinox? be careful - they automatically rejoin you and WILL NOT refund.
Also parking is not free-add it up for a year- Boo. It is pretty there, but please read all of the fine print on your very long contract. I would not join again. And they are a hard sell, also.

I also experienced the hard sell routine. Told them I just wanted to pay by the day until I knew if I would like it and they said someone would call back. they didn't. that was atleast 6 months ago.
