Christabelle's chef is out

According to the Herald, the chef is out at Christabelle's Quarter on Commodore Plaza. Chef Alex Patout (right) didn't see eye to eye with owners. Apparently his food was too heavy for the Miami crowd which desired lighter fare.

Three sous chefs are running things currently until a new chef moves in.

Interesting. Apparently that
poor Herald review in August was
right on.

I am from Louisiana and the food was not that great, but I do not blame Alex. I blame the owners. Louisiana food is much better, and why have a Louisiana restaurant in the Grove if you don't want LA food? Stay home it is not worth it and it is OVERPRICED! This place will turn out to be another cheesecake factory or something like that. I think the owners created this for a gimmick to get people to come. Louisiana food is heavy because that is what it is supposed to be. You either like it or you don't, so the owners need to change the name to Latin Quarter because that sure is what this place will turn out to be. Go figure!

It’s a shame about Chef Alex. My fiancée and celebrated her birthday at Christabelle's Quarter just 2 weeks ago and we had a great conversation with him. We like the food very much, and though we’re not from LA and are no food experts, we visit CQ for special occasions. In fact, we were there just yesterday with a group for Sunday Brunch there were smiles all around our table.

The August Hearld review was IMHO trash. I’m not related too or have any affiliation with the owners of CQ, but we’ve eaten there three times since it opened in May and have enjoyed every meal and the service has been excellent.

Coconut Grove has some great restaurant and I’m glad this one is there as it provides a different atmosphere.

For those who want light fare, maybe CQ isn’t the place for you, but it is different and the grove is known for being different…right?

Just my .02 on the subject.

Coconut Grove has some great restaureteurs? Where? Good... yes, for sure. Great? Doubt it. Christabelle's was fairly bad overall. The food was, indeed, heavy, I found it expensive, yes, but, overally, really really noisy too. The Grove is OK these days, Basically OK. What we need is two or three really good places to put us back in the map
