They want to help the playhouse

Not sure if this is a joke or if the Bank of America wants to donate money or what, but I received this email:

"Any of you guys there [no] how I can get in touch with Shelly Spivack. Bank of America may be interested in getting involved in helping out the Playhouse."

He left his name, address and number. Just the fact that he doesn't know the difference between "no" and "know" bothers me. I hate to see it called the Bank of America Playhouse, but that seems to be the way things are these days.

Shelly, if you are reading this, please contact us for this guy's name and phone number.

Writing mistakes can be annoying, but this person reads your blog and has offered to help the playhouse so perhaps posting his grammar errors might not be the greatest idea...

I find it suspicious; I work in the theater, and I know how corporate support works.
Bank of America has been a past supporter of the Coconut Grove Playhouse, just as they are current supporters of several other local arts groups. Any bank rep would know several ways to get money to the Playhouse with resorting to passing messages through a web log.

I am so disappointed that Bank of America would try and use its money and influence to keep alive this noble structure that makes the "arts and croissant" community feel so good about themselves.

IF true, it is also a disappointment to learn the adjacent parking lot was sold. Where will everyone park their Prius to attend these performances now sponsored by this evil corporation?

What has disappointed me more than all of the news above is that Jorge Pérez has declined consideration to donate funds to bail out this mismanaged mess and rename it the Related Group Playhouse.

Jorge Perez hates to donate to any organization. But I must admit why would anyone want to help out the Playhouse when too many of the longtime Board members still refuse to resign? Isn't that just spending good money after bad?
