Police defend their slow response to burglary
Miami police are defending their actions of not arriving on the scene until the next morning because they didn't realize there was an immediate threat. Nice to know if you are burglarized and frightened, the police will make you wait until the next morning before they show up to calm your nerves.
This happened to me years ago, one of my windows looked like it was broken into. It was off the hinges and open. I ran out of the house and called the police on my cell phone, about 5 hours later, they sauntered over, meanwhile, I was out in the cold winter night in my underwear afraid to go back inside.
Way to go City of Miami Police. Nice to know you are there to ease the minds of your tax paying citizens.
On a nicer note, Shake-A-Leg has received over $4500.00 in donations so far. More money is coming in.

This is what you get when a community is more concerned about not cutting down trees, protesting against the opening of a Home Depot and whether Jorge Pérez is making more money.
I believe the of safety of one's community is fundamental and if "activist" put as much effort in getting the City & it's leadership to focus on our security as they are doing in keeping Home Depot out of the Grove, we would be the safest community in America.
Another PAID lobbiest heard from.
Or maybe if Manny Diaz stopped seeing dollar signs got his lips off of Jorge Perez's ass and did his job, the police dept. would run properly. He can take a lesson from Carlos Alvarez. Obviously non of the graft (or tax) money is going to the police dept.
It doesnt matter if the community focus is on trees, boats, roads, or corrupt officials. The bottom line is that police officers are being paid nice salaries and not doing their jobs. Someone needs to be held accountable.
If I'm not mistaken, didn't Diaz and the city deny a raise to the police last year? I remember the protest, but not the outcome. Anyway, there are always one or two paid security next door at the new marina. Perhaps that company could donate their services to Shake-A- Leg. It wouldn't take much for the guards to do an hourly check on the building next door, and it would be great public relations.
Do you mean to tell me that in the home of "manana" the police move slowly? Shocking!
Timoney is a huge disappointment.
Anyone who entrusts his personal safety and that of his family to the police is a fool. The SWLiP home is well-armed, and me and the girls know how to handle them. I carry a concealed carry permit. If a dirtbag breaks into chez SWLiP, the police can take all the time they want.
Ugh, sorry for the terrible grammar. That should read, "the girls and I know how to handle our weapons."
The police are very well paid which they supplement with huge overtime. Then they get medical care and after 20 years they get great pensions. Police should work harder and they are paid to show up. Some police officer or dispatcher sure screwed up on this robbery.
