Wanna make a quick $100.00 You don't have to have a clue about what is going on. Just show up

Rebecca Wakefield wrote an interesting column in the Sun Post about the folks being paid the $100.00 to sit at the Commission meeting to "push" for the Mercy-Related project.

It's funny and sickening at the same time and this blog is referenced (and some of the nasty comments), but not by name.
Here's her column.

Um the authors comment that we somehow carry responsibilty for the crack heads in west grove is riduculus. as an african american myself i am all to clear about racism, especially in miami. however that is no justification for smoking crack. The african american community in west grove needs to start taking personal responsbility for there predicaments. They can start by canceling their direct tv serivce. It blows my mind to drive down grand seeing satillite dish after satillite dish. PRIORITIES PEOPlE.

also i find it unbelieveable that you can pay people to attend a public meeting, without at least regisering each and every crackhead as a lobbiest on the sign in form. Im going research this and get back to you all. IT MAKES ME SICK TO MY STOMACH to see the way this city is run.

Related was so desperate. Obviously, the facts were against them but their checkbooks were open, right up until the time came to pay their crackhead workers.

Great article, until the bit of scolding at the end about ignoring "Village West" at our peril. Puh-leeze.

I wonder how many of the unemployed West Grove citizens are applying for jobs at Home Depot? A good job with good benefits that they can walk to. Now, those stats would be interesting.

Why apply to work at Home Depot when Related and Rosiro Kennedy are hiring people to take up seats and sleep through City Commission meetings. Call Related...

Well said by anonymous #1.

But really, instad of complaining about what already happened, shouldn't we be papering the streets and sending telegrams to all tourists to visit Vizcaya NOW, before the Perez in the sky ruins the view of the day?

PS- I don't know why this is a surprise to any of us who followed the Home Depot Grove story.

We'll see how many West Grove residents pass the drug test to work at Home Depot.

I'd bet $100 Seth Green was behind it.
