Story Telling Festival
The International Story Telling Festival of Miami starts tomorrow at 6:30 pm with the opening reception for "Photos that Tell Stories", at the Abanico Theater (3138 Commodore Plaza). Photos by María Elena Díaz are featured in the exhibit, the reception also includes a performance by Neri Torres and Ilé-Ifé.
The festival continues on Saturday with stories told in Spanish by local and international writers, including Gretchen Betancourt Vega, Rodrigo de la Luz and Luis Lopez. Storytelling marathons, lectures on storytelling by German Jaramillo Duque and performances by Ecos Urbanos Mukak are also included.
The festival runs 6:30-10:30 p.m. Friday, 1-10 p.m. Saturday and 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $40 for the entire weekend, $15 per day, and $10 per day for children ages 12 and under, lectures are free. Call 786-430-1441 for details.
