Mercy vote tonight

Beth Dunlop wrote a great article in "The Herald" about the Mercy monstrosity called "Dark Shadows Loom for Vizcaya". The vote is tonight pertaining to the Mercy land rape and The Related Group's lack of conscience and non-stop greed quest.

I know some of you who comment here say we need progress, but non-stop greed and destroying quality of life is not progress. Paid off politicians sicken me.

This is off topic, but has anyone heard any more detail about the property tax bill that is possibly going to be passed? Last I heard it was voted on and favored by a 21-12 vote and now I think it goes to the people's vote. I could be gravely mistaken though. Any comments would be great, and sorry that this has nothing to do with Related/Vizcaya. Im against that project but its a losing battle...

Miami 21 is supposed to be the answer to the fact that the City of Miami has not respected our own Zoning Codes and continues to spot zone properties for almost everyone that wishes to upzone their property.

Now Mercy Hospital is asking us to change their zoning to accommodate the building of luxury condos so they can have a new revenue stream.

Please invite Elizabeth Platter or an expert from the Miami 21 zoning project to attend today’s City Commissioners Meeting.

Ask Elizabeth or a Miami 21 expert what are the Miami 21 plans for all G/I zoned properties!

Are all of the G/I zoned properties that include hospitals and cemeteries up for grabs and will be turned into condominiums soon?

Let’s hope that will not be the case.

Ask what is the best use for the G/I property owned by Mercy Hospital?

I am sure that Mercy Hospital has the right to sell a portion of their property but they do not have the right to change the zoning for their own benefit. The new owners must use the G/I zoned property as indicated by our zoning codes and not change it for the purpose of building more condos that are not needed in South Florida.

Why can’t the City of Miami suggest to the Related Group to build their luxury condos on another waterfront site that already has plans and permits such as the halted Onyx 2 on NE 30th Street and Biscayne Bay?

There should be a moratorium of changing zoning for all properties, especially the Mercy Hospital property at this time, since we are so close to finally discovering what Miami 21 is all about.

It seems to be that that building some condos on the Mercy property is a forgone conclusion. The issue seems to be just how tall and how many units.

It is a shame that our City does not respect its own zoning codes and laws such as the one that is supposed to project G/I properties that was passed after the Grovner project.

What is to guarantee that our City of Miami zoning codes will be respected after Miami 21 is implemented, if our zoning code laws have not been respected for many years and are not respected as of today?

Eliz Plater-Zyberk will not help the Grove. Jorge Perez gave her money for a building at U of M. If Jorge Perez needs three votes to defile the Grove he buys three votes... What would you do if you were a billionaire?

It is too bad proper planning principles do not apply in Miami...

Obviously, Miami follows the "golden rule". He who has the gold rules.
