Because life would be boring if everything looked the same.
Architects would starve.
Tourists would only need to take one picture and go home.
That top picture is proof that Commodore Plaza has turned into a cheesy version of Epcot. Thankfully they took down that awful windmill across the street.
What would you rather have - another pizza joint? This is a first class building that will be a destination restaurant which the Grove desperately needs.
Anyone know when it will open? I believe its supposed to be a Louisiana-style blues bar too, no?
Should open in the next couple of weeks; you will be amazed at the interior of this building and the attention to detail - they even have brought in a chef from New Orleans who had his own restaurant there before Katrina. We should all be very excited about this restaurant. I don't think anyone will be disappointed.
That picture doesn't really do it justice--it is actually really nice looking. kind of rehabbed church meets new orleans french quarter meets art deco.
It's actually sort of surprising that this much energy has gone into it, considering the general schlocky stuff nearby (h00ters, cheesecake factory, etc)
Hey, hey! Hooters is haute!
I found more info on the restaurant. Check this link if your interested. The info about the Grove site is at the top of the page.

Alex Patout will be the Chef at this restaurant; check him out, check out his Lousiana restaurant on the web; what a coup for us.
Tis a shame that we have to borrow architectural styles from other regions to keep it interesting.
Tinaji, you are unpleasable... Sometimes I wonder if you make these ridiculous comments just to stir up conversation. If they put up a "Miami style" building, youd bitch about it being too "cookie cutter". The grove is all about different styles from different areas. Its an artsy community. There are houses and buildings throughout the Grove that have flavors from all over the US. This building kicks ass and they did a great job creating a Nawlins feel for a Nawlins restaurant. Quit yer bitchin already.
