County getting involved in Mercy project

Looks like the County is getting involved in the Mercy hospital land mess.

There is a resolution directing the County Attorney to investigate the impact of the proposed Related Group project will have on Vizcaya. The PDF of the Memorandum is
here.

There is County Commission meeting tomorrow so those so inclined may want to pop up to see what's up.

Goodluck with that. You do realize that this project is proposed on the SOUTH side of Mercy, therefore it is not adjacent to Vizcaya?

The County should be concerned. Projects, like the 1.2 Mil sq ft Mercy proposal, need to access Miami-Dade water and sewer facilities. And a massive project on the Mercy site would increase gridlock on S. Bayshore Drive.

This is a rezoning issue. Carlos Gimenez and all County officials should be concerned. If this goes through will the Museum of Science get rezoned R 4 next?

Vizcaya should be concerned. If the rezoning on this 7 acres goes through what is to stop Related from taking more property adjacent to Vizcaya in 11-12 years? Does not this rezoning set a precedent?
