The Great Taste of the Grove

The Great Taste of the Grove took place in Peacock Park today, and it drew a nice crowd in between the rain drops.

There seemed to be less restaurants participating this year, but of course the food that was there was great.

It wouldn't be a Grove event without face painting for the kids. There was also a climbing wall and a blow up jump house.

Jazz was performed on a stage in the corner of the park.

As you can see here, many restaurants went all out. The food was presented well and was served in decent amounts.

The Chart House didn't get it. For $4.00, they offered three tiny crab cakes. Even the food tickets were larger than the crab cakes. Can we say rip-off, Charthouse? Even the lemon wedge was larger!

Luckily the rest of the restaurants got the concept that being fair with the patrons will bring business to your restaurant. Cheating them won't.

Taste of the Grove was a great time. Good eats and not too bad on the prices. I definitely will check out some new restaurants as a result of tasting some bites at the TotG.

I hate this event. There is something about standing in line for tickets and then standing in line again for food. Then it costs 7 or 8 tickets for four (4) ribs. I'd rather go out and be waited on and have a normal dinner in the restaurant. Maybe I'm missing the point of this event but I went and left rather quickly.

You waited in line for tickets? I think I maybe waited a total of 30 seconds in both ticket and food lines. Plus, you get to see what youre getting before you pay, so if 4 ribs for $7-$8 is something you dont wanna pay, why did you get them? There were a few things that were pretty overpriced, but then there were things that had great value. I got the mushroom risotto at GNU and that was a great value and tasted great. My friend got a big pasta plate with sausage, veggies, etc. and it was only $4 and was huge.

I thought it was a great event. ITs a good excuse to get outside (even with a little rain), the band was great, and the food was good too. I also found a few restaurants that I hadnt tried yet that I will likely try in the near future.

Geez, you try to entertain people with something different and all they do is complain. Everybody else does all the work, they come, enjoy the park, enjoy the music, get to sample new foods and hang out with their friends - possibly meet new people........ya just can't please everybody!

I get what you are saying and yes the music and park were nice, but at the time I was there (rather late) the lines were a bit long and it seemed more of a hassle than anything else. We ended up going out for dinner.
