Scotty's Landing's signs

Scotty's Landing is full of signs.

I love this one. No more annoying dogs barking and fighting while you try to eat. So that's good. Some dog probably bit someone or something and they probably got fined or warned.

They have these multiple signs about being seated. The little tiny one at the bottom says, "If not understood, start again". Guess this is supposed to be funny. But it is true, people stand there and wait and wait and others just pass them by and sit down.

And I love this one about keeping your feet off the chairs. They actually have this on the back of their menu. Whenever I take someone there for the first time, I point that out. They think I am pointing out something to eat on the menu and then they read that and crack up.

They do wish you a great day as you are leaving. So that is nice.

Just because the law allows it doesn't mean that individual establishments can't set their own policies. The price of a dog bite in Florida is strict liability for the dog's owner, but possibly negligence against the proprietor of the establishment. An insurance carrier might very well say, "I don't care what the Fla. Legislature says [for you drunken hippies who've forgotten your middle-school civics, the governor can't make laws], no dogs allowed."

swilp
they cite the code on their sign. if they just did it for their own sake they should just say no dogs. Anyway they cannot be held liable for that.

I should know I am a lawyer

Restaurants with out door seating in Miami can allow dogs but they must get a permit from the city. The city has been cracking down on them lately (they also warned Greenstreet) and have put a freeze on issuing permits until Feb 01, 2007.

Way to go swlip!

Thank you for clarifying the law-making issue. And I like to see colorful language like "drunken hippies".

Makes for good reading.
