Metrorail-Rua project update

The Rapid Transit Development Impact Committee delayed a vote on the Rua project at the Grove Metrorail station at 27th and US1 last month. As you rememeber Rua, the developer wants to increase the size of his project and the neighbors are against this.

They would like him to stick with his 1999 plans, which consisted of a smaller 10 story building and a 14 story building, also a supermarket, but over the years, the project has changed many times and grown larger and larger.

The new hearing is scheduled to be heard Jan. 24, 2007 and the committee will issue their recommendations the the Miami City Commission.

The project should be limited to the size which won the RFP in 1999. Approx 14 - 10 - 1. No supersizing.

Milams can move to this site. Then Milams would have customers living upstairs as well as its usual customers. Then the Grove Gate Shopping Center could be used for an award winning mixed use condo project. Beautiful and low density.

Hey - what about Sarnoff invoking the Jennings Rule today on this project so he wouldn't have to talk about his position? He kept telling us that commissioners could talk about this project, Mercy and Home Depot - the City Attorney was wrong in his interpretaion.

Between this and the funky meetings with Arriola and commissioners - saying Sarnoff wanted the Mercy project to go through, but needed to save face,so please vote for it cause he has to vote against it, I'm getting pretty queasy. And all of that on top of his change of mind on moving code enforcement back to the net offices. Real qeasy.
