A Christmas past

For you long-time Florida residents, I know you will get chills when you see this. This is my all time favorite commerical. For many years, Publix ran this every Christmas season. I get chills and tears every time I see it. It brings back such fond memories of another era. Enjoy......

Great commercial! Too bad they pulled it. To me, it illustrates why the hispanic population should assimilate and embrace the language and values of this country and its people, who were kind enough to welcome them. The commercial is all about american values.

The commercial was, indeed, great. It was also the first modern supermarket commercial, moving away from the "potatoes at 99 cents per pound" to lifestyle. It was done by West Adv, I think, and probably won them a ton of awards.

The racist, stupid comment by the honorary KKK member, however, only shows how narrowminded some assholes can be.

What has a beautiful commercial, talking about universal values, with the "hawaiian wedding song", by the way, have to do with anything? OH, I see, because they are white?

Just reading the post title and comments, somehow I knew exactly which commercial you mean before even watching it. I immediately thought of the train and then the houseboat.

Publix always has very pretty commercials. I really like the one they did for July 4th with the kids on the beach with the cookies/cupcakes. Now they have a cute one with the salt/pepper shakers.

I didn't "get" the salt and pepper shaker one. The rest are beautiful. They seldom have minorities, though.

The concept and execution were great, but it was the music (Pat Metheny's "Last Train Home") that really made this a memorable spot.
