Election quotes

“This is a true David and Goliath story. And it goes to show that you can’t just buy an election. The Diaz machine can’t win just with money. People matter more than money and they matter more than Manny.” -- Marc Sarnoff

“This is all grass-roots, and this is going to be like a wildfire. I don’t care how much money Haskins raises – the people won’t be bought. We’re about the preservation of neighborhoods, preventing the [proliferation] of high-rises, preserving our canopy and improving our park system.”
-- Marc Sarnoff

''I'm probably going to support Marc on this one.'' -- former City Manager Joe Arriola

"I've just had so much fun.'' -- Linda Haskins

''People who want to believe that for a $500 contribution Linda can be bought are going to believe that. It's about solving issues, not creating an issue to be at the forefront, to make a name for yourself.'' -- Linda Haskins

Of course, Linda Haskins is having fun. She gets to attend campaign events while being driven around in a taxpayer funded SUV by a taxpayer paid driver. Ms Haskins gets to use city staffers as poll workers on election day. Were Ms Haskins staffers being paid by taxpayers or were they all taking time off from their city jobs?

The 74% of the voters who voted against Ms Haskins were not having fun. Their taxes are vastly increased, they are burdened by traffic, they do not trust the Diaz/Haskins Administration and they want a change. Marc Sarnoff will bring intregity and a fresh perspective to Dist 2.

I found Ms. Haskins comment about having fun revealing and sad. She was given a chance to make a difference in her community.

Instead she acts like this campaign been an ongoing party and she's always the guest of honor.

Marc Sarnoff's campaign has been long and hard. He is supported and funded by the residents of District 2 who believe in him. We have watched his spirit and courage for the past two years going up against Home Depot. He's never waivered. Marc Sarnoff has earned my vote.

I voted for Haskins for no particular reason other than experience. However, I will now vote for Mr. Sarnoff in the runoff election. Go Marc. Remember how important the Grove waterfront project is when you get into office.

It is interesting to note that over 90% of Haskins campaign contributions come from out of Dist 2 developers and contractors and almost 10% come from out of state.

Marc Sarnoff's contributions come almost exclusively from Dist 2 residents and from small local companies. Of course, I will vote for Marc.
