Fight the greedy Related Group

The Related Group wants to completely disregard the zoning board and local neighbors who are totally against the rezoning of the Mercy Hospital property.

If this is allowed to happen, this will change the zoning of everything in the Grove. Ransom Everglades Middle School, LaSalle High School, Vizcaya and the Museum of Science are just some properties where the zoning would also change to high density and allow for 40 plus story towers.

The Related Group insists on fighting the neighbors for selfish, greedy reasons. Their 410 foot high tower would be higher than any structure currently in the Grove and will only open the door for the same.

FIGHT THE GREEDY BASTARDS. Please attend the Planning Board Meeting tomorrow, Sept. 20, 2006 at City Hall, 3500 Pan American Drive. The Mercy issue may not be on the agenda, but people may be able to speak on the subject.

Hope market dynamics take care of that. Well worth the fight.

Related aren't the only greedy bastards here. So is Mercy, who because they can't seem to run a hospital, need to sell off land to make ends meet. And how about Natoma Manors and Bay Heights? Those greedy bastards are probably getting lots o cash to shut up.

The people at the Related Group want more time to "talk" to the neighbors? What they want is for us to form a line so they can write everyone a check. They don't get it - its the wrong project for the neighborhood.

Period.

This is a classic example of buying off dissent. Unfortunately, there are people in our community who allow this to happen. Gives us some money to gate our neighborhoods or promise a % of the real estate listings and resulting commissions in the luxury high-rises and we will compromise our principles and look the other way while you destroy the character of our neighborhoods and permit the developers and property owners to make windfall profits - all at the expense of the community. This precedent setting type of over-development (R-4 zoning, 3 towers, 410' high, and 1.2 mil. square feet) that encroaches upon single family neighborhoods must be challenged and stopped. The Planning Board narrowly denied the application during their Wed. Sept. 20 meeting joining the Zoning Board in their rejection of the requested zoning and land use changes. This issue is far from over, though. It now goes in front of the City Commissioners (most likely in November) to approve it or deny it. The fact the Planning and Zoning Boards have rejected the application on the basis that the R-4 density is incompatible with the surrounding single family neighborhoods does not matter, (although they are to be congratulated for the position they have taken in contrast to our lackey City Staff that recommended it.) The Commissioners very often do whatever they want regardless of what the neighbors want or what is in the best interests of the community as a whole. This is not just a North Grove problem but potentially impacts every G/I zoned property in the City. The Commissioners made a promise to the community after the Grovenor House sell-out that this would not happen again. They amended the Zoning Atlas and less than two years later; we have to fight the fight all over again. Call your Commissioners and their staff and tell them: “No more G/I zoning abuse – Protect our Neighborhoods!”

Related Group = Cuban developers. City of Miami = Cuban politicians. Save your breath. Miami is their city to ruin.

Damn, after over 30 years in Miami, this Yankee still has to endure the brainless whimpering of "my people" with their venomous attacks on Cubans. If I was Cuban I'd search out every one of you cowardly bastards and personally escort you to the county line. But wait a minute. Broward will soon be majority Hispanic too. How about Alabama? Or is that too sophisticated for you? After all, Alabama recoved from their fundamental racism years ago.....

The desire to overbuild on our waterfront is just due to greed. There is no bent up demand that cannot be meant with the enormous inventory of unsold waterfront condos.
