Why?

Why was this thing allowed to be built at the entrance to Grove Isle? Do the owners have some sort of vendetta against Grove Isle? I was actually house hunting on this street, saw this on the corner and told my realtor, "next neighborhood, please." Talk about bringing down property values.

Worse, a house. Obviously the owner is compensating for a tiny schlong.

things like that prevent me from returning. i love the parks but now live ON THE BEACH and am debating returning for the sense of community. It just saddens me to see all this horrible architecture. At least on the beach people are really into preservation. And you just have to accept the condos (especially when you live in one :) )

I think it's worth mentioning that this would not have happened in Coral Gables.

REASON: City of Miami governs Coconut Grove. Always will.

Do I like the house? No. Does the owner have the right to build it? Yes.

We should not criticize someone because their taste differs from our own. Thank the Building Dept.

Related wants to build 300 huge luxury condos in three large tall towers on the parking lots at Mercy Hospital. Something like 1,000,000 sq ft. 300' tall towers.
Average mortgage payment $20,000 per month. Related plans to add thousands of new cars and trucks per day to S. Bayshore. What do you think of that?

Do I want condos at Mercy Hospital? No. I think it's a bad idea.

Does the owner have the right to build them? We'll find out.

Question: Why do people hide behind "Anonymous"?

I say lets all go to the meeting on Sept. 11 and fight the related bastards.

I prefer this unusual--if somewhat ostentatious--house, which at least appears to have some thought put into it, to the droves of generic townhomes that are springing up all across the grove.

A truly diverse community will support some of this kind if weird architecture, and be better for it.

You're going to hate me for this, but I could totally live in that house if it was located in a private little island (hell, a private little water-front piece of land).

It's obscene, but I'm a sucker for towers and scrollwork.
