Vizcaya is Free today!
Admission to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens is free again today for South Florida residents.
Planned are house and garden tours, art-making workshops for kids, flamenco dancing, storytelling and an exhibit of historic cars.
Vizcaya is at 3251 S. Miami Ave. - open from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission will also be free on Sept. 24.

Went last month. Three comments:
1. The AC inside the palace is just not enough to keep it cool, the heat was bad, but the worst part was the general smell of sweat of the crowd (it was a day like today, really brutally hot)
2. That was the only bad part, the volunteers were absolutely great, they explained a lot of things about Vizcaya and evidently had a love for the place.
3. People were really really well behaved. With the thousands in there, and you could just stroll around; there was no shouting or noise.
I think it's great that they open it to the public once a month. As soon as it cools down a bit, I'm there again.
Sounds wonderful. I remember going there so many times and I can't wait to take my new family to see the beauty.
