City Zoning takes The Grove First's side
At Monday's Home Depot meeting, they agreed by an 8 to 1 vote to honor The Grove First's appeal. One big concern is traffic. Home Depot must come up with a solution then come back to the board. The board was not convinced that there would not be a traffic mess after visiting the SW 8th Street store.
The lone dissenter was Carlos Martell.
The fight goes on. It pays to stand up for what you think.

Congrats to Marc Sarnoff and the folks who pressed this issue. My own impression was that they had done well to force Home Depot to offer the Max Strang design, which I could have lived with assuming that traffic issues were addressed. But I didn't have high hopes that the Zoning Board would treat the traffic impact issue as a high priority.
I remain concerned, though, that we may see some unexpected blowback, such as Home Depot deciding to move into the K-Mart building as-is, rubbishing Milam's lease, etc. These are not beyond the realm of possibility.
Excellent! I am very pleased to hear that The Grove First is being heard.
