hey thanks for stopping by my blog....

I see you're passionate about blocking the Depot. Honestly, I would to if I knew there would be access to one 30 or 45 minutes away. Here in Los Angeles we're blocking Wal Mart from invading for several reasons. We have lots of little "mom & pop" stores that would be impacted so much by Wal Mart(we've already got K-Marts & Targets). I'm sure Home Depot will be able to build somewhere else and not ruin your wonderful community, Good Luck!

We have a Home Depot 5 minutes away and another one about 15 minutes away.

grapevine..are you referring to the home depot on 8th st? have you been there? yes it's 5 minutes away but it is a disaster! It's overcrowded and catered to contractors. I think the one that you are referring to that is "15 min" away is in Kendall. The only way you can get there in 15 minutes from the grove is by helicopter.

have you seen the renderings for the new home depot in the grove? it's actually going to be beautiful and catered to women and stuff (not contractors).

pictures are worth a thousand words. go here http://grovedepot.com/

look at the renderings and the current pictures of this dump. is this not an improvement? I live in downtown. (like 3 minutes from the one 8th street). If this HD opened in the grove, it would be so stress-free. Think about it. Grab a quick lunch at Milams and then go for a screw or two at the HD. More tax dollars for your (and mine) precious Grove.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

Roger, you really don't have a clue and since you don't live in our neighborhood how about you mind your own business?

On a weekday, it takes me 15 minutes to get to the store on US 1 and 136 St. and five minutes to get to the 8th street store.

A pretty store is going to keep 15 tractor trailors off our streets daily and up to 5000 cars a day will not come? Wake up man.

Go live in your downtown overdeveloped ghetto. We don't want that here.

grapevine, did you delete my last post?

anyway...

Bart, don't forget how grove coexists with a ghetto of its own.

back to the discussion at hand...

"On a weekday, it takes me 15 minutes to get to the store on US 1 and 136 St..."
-This is impossible unless it is 4:00AM

"...and five minutes to get to the 8th street store."
-Also impossible. Besides this, have you actually been there? Going here should be enough reason to open the proposed project in the grove. This location is not anywhere near the userfriendliness that the grove location is proposing.

Are you sure you're not reacting more to the IDEA of having a Home Depot in the Grove than to the actuality of it? I had a look at the plans on http://grovedepot.com/ and it looks like the HD folks are going well beyond the ordinary call of duty to make this a beautiful center, and at least minimizing the things which can make ANY large business a blight on a small, ethnic community. I grew up in the Gables and Grove and will always consider them home. Given the choice, I think I'd rather have this project than a WallyWorld. You can count on them to not be nearly as sensitive to residents' concerns as HD is being.
