Why is Comcast allowed to operate in the Grove?

I love the way my cable went out last night right in the middle of "American Idol" and "Lost" and when I called Comcast, I got a recording saying they had a high call volume and I should call back. Talk about balls.

Is the City ever going to allow competition? I am sick of the cable tv and FPL for that matter, constantly going out in the Grove and no one seems to take responsibility. Last Saturday, our electricity was out again for hours, this is a constant thing. They refuse to update transformers and cut trees away, which blow out the freaking things every time the wind blows.

There are hearings today in Broward about FPL's plans to raise rates to make up for hurricane problems. I hope they are told to go to hell.

I'm totally fed up with Comcast. I lost my internet connection from Hurricane Wilma until Dec 29. I have called at least once a month to get a refund, and each time I spend at least 30 minutes on the phone with them, they "apply" the credit, tell me to pay the balance, then the next month I get slammed with late fees instead of a refund.

The cable went out for me too - as I was going to start watching Fashion Runway. Lucky for me it repeated at 11pm and I got to see it.

And Comcast's prices are through the roof. I would love to see some competition. I know that they were thinking about letting another company enter the market (Verizon, maybe?) on the SW coast of FL...can't find it online to see how it turned out.

I don't know anybody who's happy with ComCrap. I have Earthlink DSL and DIRECTV. Neither went down during both hurricanes (although DIRECTV signal tends to break up in the early phase of a rain storm). Both were up and running the moment I managed to hook up a generator.
