Elections - Nov. 15

The City of Miami elections and the Cocoanut Grove Village Council elections have been changed to Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2005. Wilma screwed up the original date.

Let's get some anti-development people in this time folks. Let's get some politicians in who actually listen to their constituents. Enough with Manny Diaz and all those people who never saw a high rise they didn't
like. I wish Johnny Winton was running, I think his days are numbered. Maybe he could get a job working for the Home Depot Corp., oh wait, I think he is already.

The most important thing is that people actually VOTE. Manny Diaz and Johnny Winton are going to be paying very close attention to turnout numbers. If no one turns out, they'll know they can keep on ignoring us.

So PLEASE VOTE. It only takes a few minutes and there might be a hot girl/guy in line next to you!

There will be highrises from Mercy Hospital all the way to Rickenbacker Causeway if Diaz and Winton have their way. If that doesn't bother you, then...it doesn't bother you. Most people do have a problem with it.

I agree that McMansion sprawl is a bigger problem. Its not just the lost trees, which is a huge problem, but the fucking things are just so goddamn UGLY! They should create an overlay district banning Spanish Mediterranean style.

But that's just the opinion of one snob.

It's kind of odd how Grove activists whine that they don't want the Grove to end up like Coral Gables, but everything that they complain about in the City of Miami seems to highlight the fact that what they really want is a zoning code that would be at least as restrictive as that in the Gables.

Go figure.
