Art Teele supporters put down media
Yesterday in front of Miami City Hall, in the Grove, protesters were blaming the media, notably The New Times for the demise of former Miami Commissioner Art Teele. The protestors feel that if The New Times was not publishing Art Teele's personal problems including his sex life stories, that he may have been able to cope with his legal problems, rather than deal with being humiliated daily by the media.
The protesters were pouring red paint on copies of the current issue of The New Times to symbolize the blood lost due to sleazy media articles about Teele, which had nothing to do with his mounting legal problems..
We have to agree. Why was Teele hounded non-stop? Everyone who reads this has skeletons in the closet and they don't need to be turned into media gossip to punish us if we do something wrong. We have courts for that, not wanna-be journalists. The funny part is that most of these sleazy journalists have more horror stories in their backgrounds than Art Teele ever did.
And Jim DeFede should get his job back. He was one of the only reasons people picked up "The Herald." It's a shame we are a one newspaper town, if this had happened in any other major city, the competition would have had DeFede on the payroll telling his side of the story the next day.
