Art Teele kills himself
Ex Miami Commissioner Art Teele shot himself in the mouth in The Miami Herald building at about 6:06 pm today. He died at 7:50 pm at the Ryder Trauma Center.Teele entered The Herald and asked to see a reporter, but he shot himself in the mouth. He told the police who showed up that he wanted them to tell his wife that he loved her. He felt that the media coverage of him was unfair.
The New Times was about to publish a nasty expose on Teele. It should be out tomorrow. It reads like a seedy novel involving prostitution, police surveilance, illegal deals and loans.
Teele had been facing federal charges of conspiring to defraud Miami-Dade County in airport contracts, too.

Teele might have been crooked, he might have been way in debt, and he may even have been a perv. But damn! To go out that way?
Its all very sad.
This is a strange place.
We always liked Art Teele and even considered voting for him for Mayor.
