The Bookstore has a new home on Fuller Street
It's musical chairs when it comes to Florentine Plaza at Main Highway and Fuller Street. Since the new owners took over, the place has been anything but stable, but in the last year or so, it's nice to see small mom and pop stores thriving in the small complex.
New to the area as of Tuesday is the Bookstore and Kitchen, formerly Bookstore in the Grove. They moved in to the space at 3090 Fuller Street, formerly the Coconut Grove Store, the t-shirt place (they moved around to Main Highway), before that, Silverado and Goldie's and so many other places.
Right next door at the former Akashi restaurant space is the other part of the bookstore - the Kitchen part - where food will be served. They will have tables out on the patio area, too.
I ran into Alben Murcia, General Manager of the Bookstore on Tuesday, he was all set and ready for customers in their new home. It's a cool little spot with books and gifts, it fits right in with the other neighbors who are part of Florentine Plaza. Alven was very nice and welcoming.
They are open daily from 11 am to 7 pm and Alven tells me that the kitchen will be open starting at 7 am, which will be great for early morning breakfast, bringing some life that end of town that early. This part of the business is scheduled to open Thursday or Friday this week; on Tuesday, they were still setting up the restaurant.
This is the third location for the bookstore over 11 years.

The Bookstore part is terrific. A lot to see and buy in a small space. Hope the new location is a big success for both bookstore and kitchen.
