Say goodbye to the good ol' 249 circulator
The City of Miami Government's free Coconut Grove Trolley serves most of the Route 249 alignment (Monday - Saturday, 6:30 am - 11:00 pm; Sunday, 8:00 am - 8:00 pm. The route is here.
Route 22 serves the Coconut Grove Metrorail Station, SW 27 Ave, Tigertail Ave, Aviation Ave and S Bayshore Dr. (Every 30 or 60 minutes; Monday - Saturday, 6:00 am - 11:00 pm'; Sunday,6:00 am - 10:00 pm. Route 22 is shown here.
Route 37 serves SW 37 Ave between Douglas Road Metrorail Station and Grand Ave. (Every 30 or 60 minutes; Monday - Saturday, 6:00 am - 11:00 pm; Sunday, 6:00 am - 10:00 pm. Route 37 is shown here.
Ironically, the 249 route is what kept the trolley out of the Grove for so long, the county didn't want to give it up.

I see the trolley all over the Grove going all directions and on streets that aren't on that map route. I never can figure out which way it is going or where it is supposed to stop. There is no way to know what kind of schedule it is on since it doesn't show up on the Miami-Dade transit app. Other trolleys are on there but not the Coconut Grove trolley. I guess it's more of a hop on hop off thing than a way to get somewhere at a specific time. RIP bus 249.
The trolley is on the app, I use it all the time. You actually see the trolleys moving on the app in real time. The trolley is slow and sucks these days, they need more for the routes, but there is an app and you can see the Grove trolleys on the app.
PS> It's the city of miami trolley app. Not the county app.
I think that it is very irresponsible of Miami-Dade Transit to unceremoniously discontinue its Route 249 and leave Village West residents without a viable eastbound alternative along Grand Ave. west of SW 32 Ave./MacDonald St. Yes, the Coconut Grove route of the Miami Trolley provides service along the entire Grand Avenue corridor, which is convenient for riders travelling westbound only, but what about if a Village West resident wants to make a quick trip to the post office, dry cleaners or movies? Should one be prepared to take a sightseeing jaunt on a westbound Miami Trolley as it navigates its way to LeJeune Rd., the Shops of Merrick Park on Ponce de Leon Blvd., Bird Road, into the Douglas Road Metrorail Station, onto Bird Road (again) to SW 27 Ave. into the Coconut Grove Metrorail Station and back out to SW 27 Ave. (again) onto Tigertail Ave., Oak Ave., SW 32 Ave. then FINALLY turn on Grand Ave. across from the post office? It sounds tedious and time-consuming to me. In light of the fact that the county has scratched Routes 6, 48 and now 249 from Coconut Grove, I propose that the City of Miami Trolley operation heads explore the possibility of adjusting its current Coconut Grove route to fully accommodate Village West residents and visitors to previous public transit levels.
