City to extend Monty's lease?

Monty's Raw Bar & Restaurant may be around for another 32 years. The City is considering a longer lease with Monty's and also may spend $7.5 million to renovate the property.

The adjoining 34-slip dock area would be realigned to have fewer slips.

I haven't been to Monty's in years. One of the last times I was there, they had the upstairs restaurant, I remember we had all-you-can-eat stone crabs. Guess its time to go back.

Maybe the lease renewal should be contingent on improving the food and especially the service.

We moved our boat there a year and a half ago, and had heard about the place many times and was excited to try it. We've been back twice after our initial visit trying to give the place another chance, but it appears that they are surviving on their previous reputation and the view/location.

Yes, make it contingent on decent food and maybe even some parking spaces, rather than fleecing people for valet parking. Why only eight scooter-sized parking spaces allotted for the Starbucks?

There's a parking garage down the street and a surface lot right there. Parking is fine.

My family stopped going there, because they repeatedly ripped off my daughter who liked to go there for a hamburger and coke and fries. She has Down syndrome, and would often give them two $20's for a $22 purchase- the waiters asked if they could keep the change (she would say yes-- this is after the bill always include a Service Charge which they claim is not the same as a tip). One time, my son and daughter stormed over there to tell them they were cruel taking advantage of a person with disabilities.

You should know that Cheesecake Factory would always tell my daughter if she tipped too much and return the excess. They had class.
