Dinner Key part of new boat tour operation

The City of Miami has made a deal with the US Department of the Interior, National Park Service to bring more visitors to Biscyane National Park, which  largely consists of the water, reefs and islands offshore.

The launching point for the boat tours will be Dinner Key Marina, here in Coconut Grove, at an area next to City Hall. A City  memo reads, “The City, as owner and administrator of the Marina, wishes to support the Park’s goals and facilitate the desired expansion of visitor services for Miami-area residents and visitors needing ready access to the Park."

The government will pay the city's dockage rate and part of the ticket fees. The city would receive $28,000 or so according to Daniel Rotenberg, the City's director of the Department of Real Estate and Asset Management.

Bids will go out for contractors to run the service, which would expire in 10 year increments.
