Bully dogs and their bully owners

The dog park on Shipping Avenue is being taken over by irresponsible owners with mean and/or aggressive dogs.  In my personal experience, they seem mostly to be pit bull or mixed breeds.  But of course I mostly blame owners who let their dogs attack other dogs or else play too aggressively.  If you say anything, the owners usually ignore the comment or else say something like “down, boy,” and leave it at that.  I no longer take my dogs there, and I met an elderly lady last night with two small dogs who said one of them had been attacked the previous evening.  Weekends are particularly bad.

Like master, like pet! A long time ago, around Middle North Grove, just West of Tiger Tail a good looking lady who walked her dogs twice daily was being pursued by a a pesky male with several aggressive dogs, who got really snotty & ugly when she asked him to back off. She told her husband, a really nice gentle, masculine pit fighter. The husband took their two pit bulls and followed his wife the following day and sure enough here comes the jerk with his two aggressive dogs and confronted her and turned his dogs loose on her two dogs - - - It was beautiful.

Word to the wise.if you truly love your dog.the worst place to take them is a dog park(any dog park) they are full of all kinds of worms that are super deadly to your dog and the worst part is its a slow and horrible death that takes years

If they are Pit Bulls, those are illegal in Miami Dade county. Simple call the police and report them.

Similar thing happened to me! Have a medium size dog that was getting bullied by a larger dog...the owner barely looked up from her phone as I'm trying to push her dog away from my pup who was quite frightened.

The dog continued to bully our dog, without much concern from its owner at all...so we had to pack up and leave. We haven't been back since.

Anon 2:11 - Yeah just call Miami Dade and have them KILLED. What an ass. It's the owners problem and usually can be addressed by speaking to the dog owners calmly. A dog shouldn't be killed just because...

Anonymous @ 2:11 The only thing calling police will do is get those dogs killed. Meanwhile, the irresponsible owners will go on their way and continue with another aggressive dog (regardless of breed). The issue here is the OWNER not the dog! I agree with the other poster, taking your dog to a dog park is risky!

It's usually an aggressive type owner that have these aggressive type pit-bulls,
they come as a package, and speaking to them to help control their dog, not only
achieves nothing, but can result in verbal abuse onto you. Happened to me and I
don't want it to happen again. (Besides the rudeness and profanity, he told me if my
Boxer couldn't protect himself he shouldn't be in the park with 'real' dogs)

No one wants a dog put down . . . please make another suggestion.

It's like your child, at school, someone gets a notion to attack, gets a few of their friends to join in on the aggression - - - - frankly, the birds do it, the dogs do it and nature dictates this for the survival of the fittest- - - - I don't like it, but this is reality and a fact. I became a Florida State Lobbyist about 1970 to combat this crap. You better get touch, and get a touch animal or else! Sorry about reality, but Jobie Steppe

Where did we walk our dogs before Sarnoff (and Eckard?) brought us the dog parks? Maybe that's where you should go. If you want your dog to get sick or roughed up, then, by all means, use one of Sarnoff's dog parks. If you are complaining, look around. There's lots of places to take your dog.

Only in Coconut Grove do our dogs get the best views at Kennedy Park while our children's park gets a view of the parking lot and street! Only in Coconut Grove did they downsize the children's park at Blanche to make room for the dogs.

I agree with just about everyone making a comment, especially 7:27, and research has demonstrated that if there are a few pets where children play and crawl about the kids have special health care issues. I feel sorry for people who claim their pet is like a family member and given equality!? I feel nothing but sympathy and loathing for people who cannot bond with their fellow humans and seek animal/pet companionship and allow commercials using animals that talk to direct their spending habits. Entire armies rebelled against Hitlers mass killing's/murders that had to be replaced by foreign armies/males to do the job. If any dog, including pit bulls and/or their owners become physically aggressive, PLEASE call the police, get em off the street and out of our parks and make a record of their attitude. Pit bulls and other dogs rip the skin off people's faces, tear into their legs and have killed both adults and children - - - get rid of these cowardly bully punks who hide behind their pets.

If pet owners had a general idea how much damage their pets are doing to the environment especially the bird population then they would think twice about the mosltly make believe emotional support they receive from their master slave relationship by owning a pet.

So dogs are killing birds and causing all the pollution in China, anon @12:33? Cat's must be culpable of global warming too.

@1:25, nah, that's mainly due to cow farts. The real argument against cats is .... cats.

What makes dog owners so special that all of us taxpayers are required to subsidize their pet parks and put up with their pooping and peeing in our public swales? How about if you take care of your own pet in your own house and backyard. If you have no back yard then you have no reason to have a dog in the first place. Our community does not tolerate children, adults or the homeless from doing their business in public and neither should we tolerate your dogs. Lastly don't even think of bringing them into shops and restaurants. If you require a dog to keep you from being on edge, than please do us all a favor and just stay home or see a shrink.

Damn those pooping, pissing dogs, let me tell you what I think, but before I get started blasting those who feel their dog is a loving, caring family member my cat is rubbing against my leg, so give me a moment to feed her and provide some whole milk, I'll get right back! Jobie Steppe

"RUBBING AGAINST MY LEG, SO GIVE ME A MOMENT TO FEED HER AND PROVIDE SOME WHOLE MILK" That is suggestive in a very poetic way.

How so anon 8:10, sincerely, all cats rub against their 1st provider indicating a greeting or it's time to be fed. You find this "suggestive", how so, and how is this "poetic", I ask because of your comment, it's interesting, suggestive, say what!?

What about the Bully Owners who park their cars in the middle of the street for hours on end and then give you dirty looks when you try to navigate around them and their dogs?

I think the concrete benches in Regatta Park are on the same level of offensiveness as these hitler pitbulls and milk loving cats.

My, my, you seem to be offended by; park benches, Hitler pit bulls, *(that's Hitler with a capital "H", and pit-bulls. not pitbulls) dummy, and I bet U a $, you've got letters printed on your fingers, wrap your are around your food when eating and read what other people commented about these cement park benches and owned at least 5 pit-bulls before they were put down, park your car in the middle of the roadway, open you car door when a bicyclist is passing; is that you!? You're the reason(s) why they put down some dogs and have prisons; the rest of us would just care for a little respect & consideration!
