Double Macchiato

So this morning I did the gym and then went to Starbucks at CocoWalk for my thing, which I proceeded to describe - and lo and behold, before I could finish, one of the guys there asked, "Are you the Grapevine guy?" He had read yesterday's story and I didn't have to describe my drink as if it was something I made up, like the other guy had assumed yesterday.

We all had a laugh about it and he said that he knew what I wanted - there was a name for it - Espresso Macchiato. So I got that.

He was a young guy, and into politics, he mentioned Commissioner Ken Russell and the changes going on around here and that he lived in the Grove, and it was nice to see that he kept up with the Grove news by reading the Grapevine and also knowing about local politics. With all the youth moving and working in the Grove these days, it's nice to see that they are interested in the community.

Although sometimes besmirched by some of your commenters, us "youths" are interested in the comings and goings in our neighborhood, and really enjoy your blog. Glad you got the name of your drink, I'll have to try it next time.

RE: 24 Hour Fitness; it is true that a lot of members have left and continue to leave. I was a member for years and noticed the lack of effort by management and staff to keep existing members. They always appeared to push sales versus service. It still is a very impersonal gym and finally adding new equipment will not stop the flow out.

How about something called "The Old Grove Group" where folks who have been here or subscribe to whatever it was that made it "The Old Grove" come together at wherever, a bar for beer, a grill for old Grove food, something like the drum circle, but where folks specifically rally together IF such a group can afford, collectively, afford as in forming such a group/mentality or dollar wise to keep it going because it truly might be something that could sustain itself; any takers or suggestions!?
