Thank you, Grace Solares

In my humble opinion there are two kinds of people that seek political office.

One desires recognition, acclimation, prestige, control, power and self-aggrandizement.

The other wishes to serve our community, maintain its quality of life and help with improvement that will benefit all.

The test of a true public servant is when they continue to selflessly serve the best interests of our community even if they are not elected or are now out of office. Think of all of the past candidates and elected leaders that we have had. Can you recall any of them that continued to advocate for citizens’ rights when not elected or out of office? That breed of community activist is rare indeed. But you can bet that Grace Solares will continue to voice our concerns before P&Z and Commission meetings for many years to come. She cares about our community and will champion our rights come Hell or high-water. And by many scientific reports, it seems that high-water may be here even sooner than predicted.

Thanks, Grace.

We are lucky to have her willing to continue to fight for us. I have heard some say people shouldn't vote for her because she has sued the powers that be to protect the residents. That the other commissioners would not work with her, so being an activist with a known record eliminates you from holding office?

Harry, don't you forget about $$$, one of the main political motivations throughout History? You make it sound like a poetic love story.

We are lucky she has stayed committed. But we dodged a bullet by not having her as commissioner. This campaign brought out some of the worse tactics I've ever seen, specially Grace and her group. Her commitment to the district should not be so strong as to have her sink to those levels. Food for thought.
